Our Client: The Journey School

Charter school finds success with professional coaching and leadership training.

The Journey School (TJS) was Michelle’s vision to make an impact in urban education for years. As a charter school in St. Paul, MN, they officially opened their doors in 2019 with an aggressive goal to enroll 100 students in less than 6 months, and then there was COVID.

Watch the video below to learn about the challenges they overcame by investing in their leadership to build roots in the community they serve and how Partner2Learn was there to guide them.

Overcoming challenges with a StrengthsFirst culture.

Partner2Learn helped the newly formed TJS team to understand their individual strengths through 1:1 StrengthsFirst 101 coaching, appreciate the teams’ strengths and identify partner up opportunities through a StrengthsFirst 102 team learning session.

They solidified their foundation through a Team Building 103 session to learn and apply the 5 Essentials of a team to build trust, positive conflict, commitment, accountability, and results.

Ongoing individual leadership coaching for staff was also offered.

Bottom line results.

Despite the challenges of Covid in 2020, enrollment has increased by 25 students (and counting!) for this upcoming school year.  That is an increase to the budget income of around $300,000, far exceeding the proactive investment made in leadership development.

What’s next? Strategic planning for growth.

TJS will be working with Partner2Learn to create alignment with a new strategic plan for the school to help continue its commitment to the community and its plan for growth for years to come.
